QTMRF 05 - Sound Compression Support (1-May-95)
Q Is sound compression and decompression supported in QuickTime 2.0 for Macintosh and Windows?
A IMA 4:1 sound compression and decompression is supported with QuickTime 2.0 and QuickTime for Windows 2.0.x. The decompression is currently done inside the QuickTime extension itself (not Sound Manager, but that will change later). The compression is done using a special tool, SoundConverter, and this tool is on the QuickTime 2.0 SDK CD.
Currently the only way to compress sounds using IMA 4:1 compression is to use the Sound Converter tool available in the QuickTime SDK.
